Acting, singing and performing allow young people to express themselves creatively. Through our Project Live Your Life campaign, we met Tyler, a student from New Jersey, who had an innovative idea for how to engage kids in his hometown. Tyler grew up with a passion for performing and realized early on that sharing his love of theater and music was the best way for him to give back to his community. He started Fit to Flow, an organization that supports theater arts and music programs in North Bergen schools by providing coaching, mentoring and supplemental funding. American Eagle Outfitters pledged to support Fit to Flow by donating up to $10,000. We also worked with Tyler to help him hone his Fit to Flow model, one that pairs fundraising with hands-on support.
Tyler exemplifies his generation of changemakers. Helping Fit to Flow succeed in its mission to enable theater arts programming for low-income, urban communities is part of our growing initiative to support youth-led change organizations. We're inspired by young people with powerful, galvanizing ideas, so we were thrilled to help Fit to Flow come to life.
