We've developed a green procurement process to ensure our offices are stocked with environmentally friendly products. Through this process, we've switched all of our stores, offices and distribution centers to recycled paper.
We're also constantly looking for ways to take paper out of the equation. In 2011, our Human Resources department transitioned to a paperless payroll system. In 2010, our internal newsletter moved entirely online and the American Eagle Outfitters magazine, published 3-4 times a year, was made available as an online e-zine. This has reduced the number of printed magazine copies from approximately 135,000 copies to just 2,000 copies per year, a 98% printing reduction. The hard copies produced are printed on Forest Stewardship Council certified paper containing 35% recycled material.
