Your jeans will be recycled into Ultra-Touch Denim Insulation for New Orleans area homes that Habitat for Humanity will be constructing.

We collected denim donations in all AE stores in the US and 47 of our 48 AE Student Union College Campuses as well.

The final count was (drum roll please!): 52,447 pairs of denim. That’s enough to insulate 104 houses!

The top donating AE Student Union schools were:
• UMass-Amherst: 193 pairs
• West Virginia University: 182
• University of Central Florida: 182

The 47 schools combined collected 2,577 pieces of denim, which provides enough insulation for 5 houses.

In the initial 5 days of our Old Jeans, New Hope denim drive, our customers have donated more than 8,000 pairs of jeans. That’s enough denim to insulate 6 homes! How many more homes can we insulate? 10? 20? 50?

We are accepting jeans until October 18th, so make sure you trade your old jeans in for a great 20% discount and help us insulate some homes!

Here at AE, we were wondering how denim insulation was really made, so our friends at Cotton sent us this really cool video to answer our questions.

From Wednesday, October 5th to Sunday, October 16th American Eagle is partnering with Cotton to bring ‘Old Jeans, New Hope’ to AE stores all over the US. Customers are encouraged to bring in their old denim to an American Eagle store and in turn, they will receive 20% off their entire purchase!

What can you donate to Old Jeans, New Hope?

Any type of denim! It can be your jeans that don’t fit anymore, your dad’s old jean shorts you can’t stand to see ever again, or Daisy Dukes from the 1970s! That denim jumpsuit trend didn’t seem to pan out? Bring ‘em in and get 20% off your entire purchase! It’s that simple!

Where is my old denim going?

Your old denim is going to be turned into UltraTouch Denim Insulation. Ultra Touch Denim Insulation then gets sent to communities in need all over the United States to assist with their building efforts. Your old denim is going to help keep someone warm!
