What you’ll need: Aerie tote, Aerie Scarf, yarn, scissors, and a large needle.

First, clip along the edge of your scarf creating three braiding strips that are two-inches wide. Then, clip the rest of the scarf into one-inch wide embroidery strips.  (Note: if you prefer the frayed look, rip the strips with your hands instead of cutting them with scissors.)

Take the one-inch thin strips and combine them with the yarn. Begin a simple stitch all the way around the top edge of the tote. (Width between stitches is up to you!)

After stitching around the entire tote, continue the stitch up and around the tote handles. Hint: pre-punch holes along the handle with scissors or a pin for ease when stitching.

Next, cut a paper pattern for an applique shape of your choice.

Use the paper patten to cut the shape from fabric and pin the shape in place. Stitch around the applique using your needle and yarn, securing it to the tote.

Next, take your remaining  materials to create a braided shoulder strap. Do this by combining the wider two-inch fabric strips with yarn and knot the braids at the ends.

Attach your braided strap to the top of the tote with the leftover yarn and needle.

And voila, you have your very own, personalized Aerie tote! If you want to go a bit further, try dipping your tote into a tub of fabric dye until you have reached your desired tone of color.

Phantogram recently released their latest mini-album, Nightlife, and we can’t get enough of the new tracks, especially Don’t Move. We asked Phantogram to share their audio muse with us, and they sent over a playlist for AE fans to check out. Instead of a list of various artists, Sarah and Josh shared their love for OH No with us. OH No is an underground hip hop artist; he’s Mad Lib’s younger brother and releases records through the Stones Throw record label. So, if you love Phantogram, be sure to check out their Spotify list below, these are the sounds that inspire them.

Our Expanded Rush on Thursday, October 20th against the Montreal Canadiens brought almost 500 students to Consol Energy Center. The day was barely over 40 degrees and students began lining up at 10 AM. The first 400 students in line received a free AE NHL Vintage Pro T.

Right before 5, students got a special surprise: Jordan Staal, James Neal, Deryk Engelland, Pascal Dupuis and Coach Dan Bylsma delivered pizzas to the waiting fans.

Fans also participated in trivia contests and giveaways.

William R. (second from right) won a signed puck. He and his friends Elliot M., Seth G., and Sean G. all play hockey for Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh and have been coming to student rush events for years.

Britti M., a student at Carlow Unversity in Pittsburgh, attended her first Student Rush and won a Deryk Engelland (her favorite player!) signed puck.

Every Expanded Student Rush features a ‘Cotton Eyed Joe’ dance-off to pay homage to the song that plays during breaks of play at the games. The first winner was Jessica H. who received an American Eagle gift card.

Phil M. won a Matt Cooke autographed puck during the second dance-off and met his favorite player, Jordan Staal.

M83 has released an official video for “Midnight City”, the first single from Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming. The video, directed by Fleur & Manu and produced by DIVISION, follows a pack of gifted kids with telepathic and telekinetic powers who break free from an institution to be free and run wild on the outskirts of Los Angeles.

M83 is excited to announce that Active Child will support the band throughout the fall US tour dates which start in Washington D.C on October 28th. Expected to be a sold out tour, the fall dates will be M83’s first live shows in over two years.
