To get ready for National Siblings Day, we talked with our Aerie fam about the role their siblings have had in their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meet Paloma, Aerie Model! We got the chance to talk to her about her brother, Luke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How are you staying in touch with your sibling while you’re far away? Do you have any fun phone\/video date routines?<\/strong>
Paloma:<\/strong>\u00a0We don’t really have a schedule\u00a0when it comes to staying in touch. It’s nice because we both reach out whenever we want, making it more meaningful in a way.

What does your sibling do that makes you laugh the hardest?<\/strong>
Paloma:<\/strong>\u00a0I’m always laughing around Luke. He just has that personality to make anyone laugh. When we are both goofing\u00a0around and bouncing off each other, that’s when it is most fun!

How does your sibling help you stay grounded?<\/strong>
Paloma:<\/strong>\u00a0Luke is one of the most influential people in my life. Him being my big brother, I can always count on him, ask for advice, and can simply cruise with him. He keeps me in check, even when I don’t want to hear it, haha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What’s your favorite memory together?<\/strong>
Paloma:<\/strong>\u00a0Just growing up together is a favorite memory of mine. It’s hard to narrow 17 years down to one specific moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      How are you staying in touch with your sibling while you’re far away? Do you have any fun phone\u00a0or\u00a0video date routines?<\/strong>
      Tara & Terumi: <\/strong>We haven\u2019t lived in the same time zone since high school, so we\u2019re good at texting, phone calls,\u00a0and\u00a0Facetiming! I wouldn\u2019t call it a \u201croutine,\u201d but we almost always find time to check in on each other\u2019s pets or stuffed animals, talk about matcha, what gluten-free foods we\u2019re eating, and podcasts we\u2019re listening to.\u00a0

      What does your sibling do that makes you laugh the hardest?<\/strong>
      Tara:<\/strong> She busts out hilarious voices and impressions out of nowhere\u2014my favorite is the \u2018inflatable wavy tube man at the car wash\u2019 dance.
      Terumi:<\/strong> She somehow catches me in all of my embarrassing moments and phases of life, and records them.\u00a0The side-by-side photo montage she made of my bangs haircut\u00a0with an upside down bowl of Japanese rice kills me every time.\u00a0

      How does your sibling help you stay grounded?<\/strong>
      Tara:<\/strong> My sister is full of good, practical, honest advice whenever I need it!

      What’s your favorite memory together?\u00a0<\/strong>
      Tara & Terumi:<\/strong> Growing up, whenever we were stuck inside was when we got the most creative. We turned our staircase into a sledding hill and called it the Parka\u00a0Slide. We had water repellent swim parkas that we\u2019d wear upside down with our legs in the arms. Then we\u2019d throw our pillows down at the base of the stairs and sled down! We also used to \u201crock climb\u201d up our staircase, and make jump rope harnesses\u2026 lol. #safetyfirst
      We would ask\u00a0Mom for permission to eat ice cream while she was napping, and she would say yes because she was half asleep\/wanted us to leave her alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Meet Emma, Aerie Coordinator of Customer Insights & Strategy! We got the chance to talk to her about her sister, Lizzie.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      How are you staying in touch with your sibling while you’re far away? Do you have any fun phone\/video date routines?<\/strong>
      Emma:<\/strong> Lucky for me, circumstances brought my sister home from college so she is stuck at home with me! Lately our sister dates have consisted of playing Dominos, watching the Food Network and spending time social distancing from society at our lake house.

      What does your sibling do that makes you laugh the hardest?<\/strong>
      Emma:<\/strong> When Lizzie laughs REALLY hard at something, her laugh becomes silent and she basically just starts crying of laughter. Watching her do THAT makes me laugh the hardest.

      How does your sibling help you stay grounded?<\/strong>
      Emma:<\/strong> We talk on the phone every single day (especially lately). There isn\u2019t a day I go without hearing her voice and this keeps me grounded!

      What’s your favorite memory together?<\/strong>
      Emma:<\/strong> One of our favorite memories is driving to school on the last day of my senior year & her freshman year, belting our favorite Dixie Chicks song and soaking up the bittersweet moment, knowing it\u2019d be our last drive to high school together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        How are you staying in touch with your sibling while you’re far away? Do you have any fun phone\/video date routines?<\/strong>
        Patrick:<\/strong> We message each other on the LINE app that is popular in Taiwan. Once a week, we\u2019ll also talk on the phone generally in the mornings EST since it can be a 12 or 13 hour difference depending on daylight savings. Our topics usually start with catching up on life events, family gossip, and movies\/games.

        What does your sibling do that makes you laugh the hardest?<\/strong>
        Patrick:<\/strong>\u00a0I am usually the goofy sibling and my sister is usually the grounded, serious sibling. On occasion when my goofiness rubs off on her and she becomes a goofball, everything she does is the most hilarious thing to me.

        How does your sibling help you stay grounded?<\/strong>
        Patrick:<\/strong>\u00a0My sister helps me stay grounded by just talking to me and being open about her thoughts and feelings about life. We grew up together, but we chose different paths in the end. Being in different countries now, we each get a completely different experience and perspective on life. What better way to stay grounded than sharing our experiences and helping each other keep an open mind about the world?

        What’s your favorite memory together?<\/strong>
        Patrick:<\/strong>\u00a0One memory I will always cherish are the times when we were little kids in a children\u2019s chorus back in Maryland. We would practice our parts together, sing with the choir together, and perform together. We still love to sing together when I get the chance to visit her once every year or two. When we do, it brings us back to our childhood selves in those wonderful days in children\u2019s chorus.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
