Return + Exchange Policy
If you're not completely happy with a purchase, just return it for a full refund. Returns with proof of purchase (receipt, invoice, order confirmation page, order details page, order emails) will be refunded in the manner in which the original purchase was made. If you don't have proof of purchase, we'll let you exchange or give you store credit for the current price.
In-store returns + exchanges
Bring your items to any AE, Aerie, or Tailgate store in the U.S. for easy, free returns and exchanges.
Bring proof of purchase (receipt, invoice, order confirmation page, order details page, order emails) and the credit card used to make the original purchase.
If you don't have proof of purchase, you'll be credited the current price of the item in the form of an AE gift card.
If the items were shipped to you, please note that shipping is not refundable.

Returns + exchanges by mail
Yes! Your email confirmation or Order History details can serve as your invoice.
If your items were damaged when you received them, you can return them. If you have questions, feel free to call Customer Service at 1 (888) 232-4535.
Yes! Online order returns are accepted at all AE and Aerie locations.
Yes! Online only items are eligible for in-store return.
Yes! You will be refunded the amount you purchased the item for.
Your return/exchange will still be processed if the original tag is missing.
If you buy a swimsuit or bikini bottom & remove the hygienic liner, we will no longer be able to accept the return.
If it’s an online order and you’re shipping it back to us, please allow for 2-4 weeks for us to receive your items. Once it’s received, you’ll get an email that your refund is being processed. Once the refund is triggered, it will take 5-7 business days to be completed.
There is no time limit to provide a full refund, charge back to a credit card, make an exchange or issue an AE Gift Card.
If you purchased with Afterpay, your return amount will reflect the payments you've made. You'll receive an email from Afterpay with details about your refund and cancelation of your payment plan.
Actual refund amount is subject to applied discounts, tax, shipping costs, and item condition.
Yes! Orders purchased in the AE Live app qualify for free returns. If you aren’t completely happy, return your items to your nearest open AE or Aerie store, or by mail using our online portal. Start a Return
