Cutest pumpkin on the block starts here! Print one (or all) of our four Aerie-ized stencils and get carving.
WHAT YOU NEED:
- Pumpkin
- X-Acto Knife (scissors work ,too)
- Sharpie
- Printer
- Tape
STEP 1: Cut a circle around the stem of your pumpkin. Remove the top (save it!) and clean the seeds and goop out from inside.
STEP 2: Choose your favorite Aerie stencil from our downloadable pumpkin stencils file. Print the stencil on 8.5″ x 11″ paper.
STEP 3: With your X-Acto knife, cut around the dark outline, creating a stencil out of the printout.
STEP 4: Tape the stencil outline onto the area of your pumpkin you want to carve.
STEP 5: Using a sharpie, trace the inner lines of the stencil.
STEP 6: Using a pumpkin carving kit or any carving tool you want (we used smaller pottery tools), begin to cut out the outline of the stenciled drawing.
STEP 7: Be sure to follow the guidelines on each stencil, differentiating between the no-carve zones and etch carving areas.
STEP 5: Place a lit candle inside of your pumpkin and replace the top.
STEP 6: Show off your hard work!
BONUS TIPS
- To keep your pumpkin fresh, spray it with a bleach/water mix.
- Rub vaseline on the carved sections of pumpkin to keep mold away.
- Use battery-powered candles to reduce hazard and provide more light.
