Behind-The-Scenes: Our Summer Photoshoot in Puerto Rico

We flew down to some of Puerto Rico’s most beautiful locations for our summer photoshoot. We shot our Aerie models, real store associates and gymnast & activist Aly Raisman. Here are some tropi-cool travel style tips from Aerie stylist Erin Rittling, plus the behind-the-scenes scoop on our shoot locations from our VP of Creative Design, Summer Daughenbaugh.

SWIM-TO-STREET 

We shot our associates in San Juan, in a super intimate location walkable to the beach (where we could grab shots like this!). We also checked out Old San Juan, a very colorful area to explore for history, architecture and so much more. For an adventure day on the go, multi-use your swim as wear out: so you can be beach ready (and adventure-ready! and party ready!). We love styling our swim tops as crop tops. Layering your favorite shorts, skirts and coverups level up your swim: so you can be ready for anything.

MATCHING SETS 4EVER

Matching sets (and a lighter layer) are key! When you are hitting the streets to see the local sights (like taking a ferry to Vieques or Culebra!) pulling easy to grab outfits will get you out the door faster. We’re loving this set (and the seamless crochet bralette underneath for a light monochromatic look). A lightweight fleece keeps you warm on chilly nights or in the cafe, plus, a seamless crop top is the best for warm summer weather. Be sure to rock a set when you’re snapping pics in front of beautiful Puerto Rican street art.

SWEAT IT OUT 

We shot gymnast & activist Aly Raisman in the Yunque Rainforest near Luquillo Beach–this is close to Fajardo, where you can catch a ferry to explore more! Always pack your OFFLINE for active days! Our OFFLINE shorts and leggings have hidden pockets and are great for a day on-the-go or a quick trip to the gym. OFFLINE flowy shorts are sure to be a vacay hit for active days. Wear with tanks, swim, sports bras… anything!

EASY AS 1 

One and done! Dresses (as we know…) are the easiest thing to pack. and bring. and wear. It’s helpful to have something easy to grab after a day in the sun, to go to dinner or layer over swim to grab breakfast before your day gets going! Grab and GO!
